Interview Questions

Arrive at an interview prepared with questions to ask the interviewer. Towards the end of the interview, they will ask if you have any questions for them. If you don’t ask them questions, you will seem uninterested in the job or underprepared.

Before the interview, you will need to prepare by researching the company you are interviewing with. Things you will want to research include:

-what their service or product is

-who their clients are and who they target for customers

-what their company culture is like

-who their vendors are

-what their company structure looks like

By researching these topics, you will be better prepared for the interview, and you will also encounter specifics that you will want clarification on.

Depending who you are interviewing with will determine the types of questions you will have for them. Below, are some example questions you can ask at the end of the interview when they ask if you have any questions for them.


Phone interview with HR or a Screening interview

-Is this position replacing someone who left or is it new?

-What is the company culture like?

-What are short-term plans for the company growth?

-What skills are you looking for in an ideal candidate?

-Can you tell me about the team I’ll be working with?

-Can you tell me about who I’ll be reporting to?

-Based on our interview, do you think I’m qualified for the position?

-What are the next steps in the interview process?


Questions for the hiring manager

-Can you tell me what a typical day looks like for this position?

-What is the team culture like?

-What are advancement opportunities like for this position?

-What educational opportunities are provided for employees?

-What qualities are you looking for in a new employee?

-What are projects that I’ll be working on?

-Can you give me examples of someone who is successful in this position?

-What is the training or onboarding process look like?

-How often do reviews take place?

-Where do you see the companies growth in the next few years?

-Do my qualifications seem like a fit for this position?

-What are the next steps in the interview process?
